Person
Rabbi Aaron ha-Kohen of Lunel רבי אהרן בן יעקב הכהן מלוניל
he gathered the customs of four lands, already an exile
The byname points to Lunel, but by present research he lived at Narbonne. After the expulsion from France in 1306 came Spain and the island of Majorca; the oldest manuscript of the book is dated 1329.
An old dispute surrounds Orhot Hayyim: is the Kol Bo, printed in 1490, an abridgement of this book, as Rabbi Joseph Karo held, or rather an earlier recension by the author's own hand, as others thought? The dispute is unsettled; we name it.
