Rabbi Avraham of Slonim—the Yesod haAvodah רבי אברהם וינברג מסלונים

a Hasidic court in the middle of the Litvak world

A student of Noach of Lyakhovichi and Moshe of Kobrin; when the Kobrin rebbe died, the Hasidim came to him. His book is Yesod haAvodah, "The Foundation of Service": the labour of the heart, examined with Lithuanian sobriety.

The Tiberias community he sent out in 5633 survived all that followed, and when in the Shoah the Slonim court of Europe was slaughtered, the house was rebuilt out of the Land of Israel. His grandson and namesake, author of the Beit Avraham, is another man; we speak of the first Slonimer.
