Rav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg רב חיים פנחס שיינברג

Born in Ostrów, Poland, he was brought to America as a child—in the years when American Jewry did not yet believe Torah could be learned here in earnest. He studied in the study houses of New York, and then made a move rare for an American youth: he went to Europe to learn, to Mir and to Kamenetz, and came back with what America then hardly had.

For twenty-five years he was mashgiach of the Chofetz Chaim yeshiva in Queens. In 1960 he opened his own yeshiva in Brooklyn—Torah Ore—and five years later moved it to Jerusalem, to the new quarter of Mattersdorf, leading it there for the rest of his life. The yeshiva became a home for hundreds of young men from English-speaking countries.

His Talmudic writings appeared as the many-volumed Tabaas HaChoshen; he wrote also on faith and trust. He died in Adar 2012, having lived a hundred and one years.
