Rabbi Gedalyah Nadel רבי גדליה נדל
disciple of the Chazon Ish; head of a kollel in Bnei Brak
He was born in 1923 in Lithuania and came to the Land of Israel with his family as a boy; he studied in Bnei Brak and became one of the closest disciples of the Chazon Ish, who taught him himself and set him before others.
He sought no post and wrote no books. For half a century he taught in Bnei Brak—led a kollel, gave lessons on the Talmud and on the Rambam, and was known for not shying from awkward questions: on the age of the world, on the errors of copyists, on how to read the sages when their words diverge from observation. His answers went from the text and from reason, not from habit, and some of them unsettled people. After his death his students gathered his lessons and conversations into the book BeTorato shel Rabbi Gedalyah—"In the Teaching of Rabbi Gedalyah".
He died in Bnei Brak in 2004.
