Bava Kamma בבא קמא

Nezikin was once a single vast tractate; it was divided into three "gates"—first, middle and last. The first begins with the four principal kinds of damage: the ox, the pit, the grazing beast and the fire. All the rest of the law of damages is derived from them.

The second half is about injury done by one person to another: the five payments—for the injury itself, for pain, for healing, for lost time and for shame—and about theft and robbery, where more than the thing taken must be returned. Here Jewish law looks civil: there is almost no punishment, there is compensation.
