Challah חלה
a tractate of the order of Zeraim
The tractate works out from which flour challah is taken, from what quantity of dough and in what measure. The five kinds of grain from which bread is baked are the same that determine the laws of leaven on Passover and the blessing over bread.
The commandment was given to the woman of the house and stayed in her hands when the whole order of Temple offerings vanished: challah is separated to this day, only it is not given to a priest but burned. For that reason it is better known than the rest of the commandments of Zeraim.
Order: Zeraim. There is Gemara only in the Jerusalem Talmud.
