Middot מידות
a tractate of the order of Kodashim
The Temple is gone, and the tractate describes it as though the reader were walking through it: the Temple Mount and its gates, the women's court, the court of Israel, the altar, the porch, the hall, the Holy of Holies, where the stone stood on which the pan of coals was set.
Most of it is said in the name of Rabbi Eliezer ben Yaakov, who had seen the Temple. There is no Gemara; but everyone who has ever drawn a plan of the Second Temple—medieval commentators and archaeologists alike—has reconstructed it from Middot.
Order: Kodashim. There is no Gemara in either Talmud—the tractate remained mishnah.
