Terumot תרומות
a tractate of the order of Zeraim
Terumah is the one offering for which the Torah gave no measure; the sages set a generous, a middling and a mean portion. Only a priest may eat it, and only in purity, and it may not be spoiled.
Much of the tractate is about mixtures: a drop of terumah has fallen into ordinary food, and it must be decided whether quantity nullifies it. Out of this grew a whole rule of Jewish law about when the small is dissolved in the great—used far beyond the laws of terumah.
Order: Zeraim. There is Gemara only in the Jerusalem Talmud.
