Zavim זבים

a tractate of the order of Tohorot

The zav and zavah are impure not only in themselves: the bed, the chair and the saddle beneath them become impure with a particular impurity that passes further. The tractate works through the count of clean days, the number of occurrences, the purification and the offering.

A large part is given to the modes of transmission: by weight, by touch, by movement—when one person shifts another without touching him. It is the Mishnah's most detailed working-out of how impurity travels from place to place at all.

Order: Tohorot. There is no Gemara in either Talmud—the tractate remained mishnah.
