he wrote the first short textbook of Hebrew grammar
The elder son of Joseph Kimhi and the teacher of his own younger brother, David Kimhi, the Radak. Besides the textbook there stand in his name Sekhel Tov and commentaries on Proverbs, Job, Ezra and Nehemiah.
The fate of his book is unusual: in the first half of the sixteenth century the Mahalakh became the chief manual of the Christian Hebraists. It was printed with notes by Elijah Levita, and Sebastian Münster learnt Hebrew from it. The sources give no year of birth.
