Naftali נפתלי

Bilhah's second son; Rachel gave the name: "with wrestlings of God have I wrestled with my sister." Jacob said of him: "Naftali is a hind let loose, who gives goodly words." The sages took that swiftness literally: when Esau delayed Jacob's burial, demanding proof of the right to the Cave of Machpelah, it was Naftali who ran to Egypt for the deed.

The tribe's portion lay in the north, around the Kinneret and Kedesh. From there came Barak ben Avinoam, whom Deborah called against Sisera; her song remembers Naftali among those who "on the high places of the field" did not spare their lives.

"Who gives goodly words" is the second half of the blessing; it is referred to the land of Naftali, which ripens before the rest, so that messengers with good news come from there first.
