A resort town near Warsaw: pines, sanatoria and summer houses. Here the Vurka and Amshinov courts moved, following the sick.
Otwock lies twenty-three kilometres south-east of Warsaw. With the railway of 1877 the town became a resort: pine air, sanatoria, summer houses.
The courts followed the sick. Rabbi Simcha Bunim Kalish moved the Vurka court here, and in the town he was called the Otwock rebbe; in 1918 Rabbi Shimon Sholom Kalish settled here, and the Amshinov house went from here in a second branch. Here too came, in sickness, Rabbi Shmuel Bornsztain of Sochatchov and Rabbi Yitzchak Zelig of Sokolov, and both died here.
The community of Otwock was no more after the Shoah.
