Rav Giza רב גיזא
the savora of Sura whose counterpart at Pumbedita was Rav Simuna
Together with Simuna he put into the Talmud the anonymous explanations and rulings of the savoraim: what reads as part of the text but was written later. He died in 540.
In Rav Sherira's letter his name stands as Ena, and the reference book concludes that Ena and Giza are one man, the difference being a corruption in copying. By one notice he moved to the region of the river Zab during the persecutions under Kavadh, when the school of Sura was threatened with closure.
