Mar Rav Kahana took Pumbedita in 4564 (804). The list names him son of Chaninai Gaon, who had held the same seat two decades earlier: the office passed within the family, and the list records it.
Of his own he left nothing in the list but a name, a patronymic and a year: no responsum, no incident.
