Sochatchov סוכטשוב
A town west of Warsaw, where the halakhist of the Avnei Nezer gathered a court about himself—and led it as a rabbi: with a court of law, with answers, with a lesson.
Sochaczew stands fifty kilometres west of Warsaw. In 1883 Rabbi Avraham Bornsztain, the Kotzker's son-in-law, became its rabbi, and a court gathered about him.
The Sochatchov house stood on halakhah from the first. The Avnei Nezer is responsa on all four parts of the Shulchan Aruch, the Eglei Tal is on the labours of the Sabbath; both books are studied in yeshivas of every kind.
The son and the grandson led the court further, and it left Sochaczew: first for Otwock, then for Pabianice and Lodz, and after the war it gathered in Jerusalem.
