Ferdinand II of Aragon

The Inquisition in Castile was established by the bull of Sixtus IV of 1478, obtained by him and Isabella; the appointment of inquisitors he secured for the crown and not for Rome. He himself had Jewish kin on his mother's side: Juana Enríquez came of a family of converts. Contemporaries noted it and historians note it; no conclusion should be drawn from it—it affected policy not at all.

After 1492 he applied the same measures in Naples and Sicily, his own possessions, and the Sephardi diaspora of Italy took shape around his lands.
