He reigned sixty-six years, about 1279–1213 BCE.
And here he cannot be so named. On this reference's own reckoning the Exodus is 2448 AM, while Ramesses was born in 2458 AM—ten years after it. The usual identification rests on the academic chronology, where the Exodus, if it is dated at all, is put in the thirteenth century BCE; on the traditional reckoning it is arithmetically impossible. Printing it here would contradict the site's own chronology.
Egyptian dates of this period are reliable to about ten years, held in place by eclipses, stellar observations and king-lists.
