Titus
Roman general and emperor who took Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple
Here both counts coincide: 70 CE is 3830 AM on the academic and on the traditional reckoning alike; the divergence of the Persian period has closed by this time.
The Talmud (Gittin 56b) calls him "Titus the wicked" and tells how he entered the Holy of Holies and how a gnat punished him. Josephus, writing under Flavian patronage, insists that Titus wished to spare the Temple and that the fire began against his will—testimony to be read remembering who paid the author.
He was born on 30 December 39 CE, that is already in 3800 AM and not 3799: the Jewish year begins in Tishrei.
