emperor of the "War of Kitos", the diaspora revolt
Ruled 98–117 CE, carrying the empire to its greatest extent. In 115–117 the Jewish communities of Cyrene, Egypt, Cyprus and Mesopotamia rose; the suppression, called by the sages "the war of Kitos" after the general Lusius Quietus, erased the communities of Alexandria. The Mishnah counts that war as a boundary alongside the wars of Vespasian and Titus.
