Milton Friedman
Monetarist; he changed how the world thinks about money and the state
He received the Nobel Prize in economics in 1976. One of his texts is worth knowing: the lecture "Capitalism and the Jews", delivered in 1972 to the Mont Pelerin Society and printed as a pamphlet in 1988. In it he puts a direct paradox: the Jews owe their emancipation to capitalism—and overwhelmingly support anti-capitalist politics. The text has been contested many times and remains his principal documented statement about Jews.
It must not be printed that he was observant. Nor the internet claim that he served as an adviser to the Chilean junta: he lectured there in 1975 and met Pinochet once.
