Seder Olama timeline of Jewish history

Yered ירד

the sixth generation from Adam, father of Chanoch

Yered was born to Mahalalel in his sixty-fifth year and lived nine hundred and sixty-two years—the second longest life in the whole Torah after Metushelach.

He is the father of Chanoch. The father outlived the son by four hundred and thirty-five years: Chanoch was taken in 987, Yered died in 1422. In the inventory of the fifth chapter this is the only case where the father remains and the son is gone.

He died two hundred and thirty-four years before the Flood, having seen the birth of Noach and of Noach's father Lemech.
