Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner רבי יצחק הוטנר

As a boy he studied in Slobodka; in 5685 he moved to the Hebron yeshiva and stayed until 5689. In the early thirties he attended philosophy lectures at the University of Berlin—an unusual road for a rosh yeshiva, and he did not hide it.
In Brooklyn he became head of Yeshiva Chaim Berlin and built there a division for older students. Later he founded in Jerusalem's Har Nof a yeshiva named after his book.
Pachad Yitzchak. Discourses on the festivals, written in a new, almost poetic Hebrew. He did not ask how the law is built, but how the person is built to whom the law is given.
On 6 September 1970 the plane on which he was flying with his family was hijacked; they were held three weeks and released on 26 September—he reached New York in time for Rosh Hashanah.
He died on 20 Kislev 5741.
