Rabbi Yitzchak Friedman of Boyan רבי יצחק פרידמן מבויאן
the Ruzhiner's grandson; the Boyan court and its house in Vienna
The son of Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura and the Ruzhiner's grandson. In 1887 he settled in the townlet of Boyan near Chernivtsi; the court was not large, but the Ruzhin name stood behind it, and chasidim came from all Bukovina.
Vienna. In the autumn of 1914 the Russian army entered Bukovina, and he left with his family and chasidim for Vienna. There the Boyan court remained—in a city where there were almost no chasidim and where the court had to be led otherwise. His sons afterwards spread the Boyan branches to Krakow, Chernivtsi and the Land of Israel.
The Land of Israel. He put money and effort into Jerusalem affairs, and the Ruzhin-Boyan share in the building of the old yishuv is noticeable.
He died in Vienna on 17 Adar 1917, during the war.
