Moshe pleads to be allowed across and is refused. He warns against images and against forgetting, and sets apart the cities of refuge. The Ten Commandments are given a second time, and then the Shema—«Hear, O Israel»—with the love of God, the teaching of children, the tefillin and the mezuzah.
