Adah עָדָה

wife of Lemech, mother of Yaval and Yuval

"The name of one Adah, and the name of the second Tzilah" (Bereshit 4:19). Adah bore Yaval and Yuval—those whom the Torah calls the fathers of those who dwell in tents with herds, and of all who handle harp and pipe.

To her and to Tzilah are addressed Lemech's words about blood (Bereshit 4:23)—the only direct speech in the chapter, and it is spoken to the wives.

The Torah gives no years.
