Rabbi Avraham Brandwein of Stretin רבי אברהם ברנדוויין מסטרעטין

the second rebbe of Stretin

The elder son of Rabbi Yehuda Tzvi. He took the court after his father's death in 1844 and led it twenty-one years.

He had no sons—four sons-in-law; one of them, Rabbi Uri Langner of Rohatyn, became his successor.

He died on 3 Tevet 1865. A dispute arose over who should have the house of study in Stretin, and Rabbi Chaim of Sanz heard it: he ruled that chasidic leadership does not pass by inheritance of itself.
