founder of the Trisk court; the Maggid of Trisk—the only preacher among the brothers
One of the eight sons of Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl; in the division Trisk (Turiisk) in Volhynia fell to him.
Maggid. The brothers were rebbes; he was a preacher besides, and was called the Maggid of Trisk. His sermons—long ones, on the portions of the Torah—are gathered in the book Magen Avraham. Under this name the reference also has another book, Rabbi Avraham Gombiner's commentary on the Shulchan Aruch, and they are different things: there law, here sermon.
He died on 2 Tammuz 1889. The Trisk court did not re-establish itself as a separate house after the Shoah; his descendants are among the rebbes of other Chernobyl branches.
