He was married to Sarah, daughter of Rabbi Shalom; his father, Rabbi Shlomo Chaim, had founded the Koidanov court.
He took the court after his father's death in 1862 and led it until 1870. He left no books of his own.
His son Rabbi Aharon took the court, and in his time the Koidanov prayer book appeared.
