Rabbi Baruch Rabinowicz of Munkacs רבי ברוך רבינוביץ ממונקאטש
the fourth rebbe of Munkacs; son-in-law of the Minchat Elazar
Of the line of the rebbes of Parczew; through his mother a grandson of Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Shapira of Strzyzow, and so himself of the Munkacs family. In 1933 he married Chaya Frima Rivka, the only daughter of Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapira, the Minchat Elazar, and in 1937, after his father-in-law's death, took the rabbinate and the court of Munkacs.
In 1941 he was expelled, together with thousands of Jews without citizenship, to Kamenets-Podolsk; he returned to Munkacs, and later lived in Budapest and helped refugees. At the end of the winter of 1944 he left with his family for Erets Yisrael. His wife died in 1945.
After the war he lived in Sao Paulo; from 1963 he was chief rabbi of Holon, and from 1976 of Petach Tikva, where he died on 27 Kislev 1997.
