The son of Rabbi Shlomo; he took Munkacs in 1893.
The Darkei Teshuva. A multi-volume compendium on Yoreh Deah—the section of the Shulchan Aruch on kashrut, mourning and vows. In it he gathered the rulings of hundreds of later books, arranged by the places of the law. The book is taken up to this day, and not by chasidim only: it is the work of a halakhist, not a preacher.
Under him the Munkacs house finally took the shape it is known by: court and rabbinical bench in one pair of hands, and the rebbe’s word is the word of the law.
He died on 9 Iyar 1914; his son Rabbi Chaim Elazar took the court.
