The Bnei Yissaschar—Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov בני יששכר — רבי צבי אלימלך מדינוב
author of the Bnei Yissaschar—the book of the months and festivals that is read the whole year round
Born in Galicia; the sources give the year as 1783 or 1785. He was the nephew of Rebbe Elimelech of Lizhensk, and learned under the Seer of Lublin, the Maggid of Kozhnitz, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov and his uncle Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Zhidachov, the kabbalist. He was rabbi in Strzyzow, Halicz, Dynow and Munkacs.
He named his book after the tribe of Yissaschar, of whom it is said: "who know the times." Bnei Yissaschar goes through the months and festivals of the year and seeks the inner meaning of each—from Tishrei to Elul, with special chapters on the Sabbath and the New Moon. It appeared after his death, in 1850, and has been printed without interruption since. He wrote also on the commandments—Derech Pikudecha—and on the Talmud.
He died on 18 Tevet 1841 in Dynow. His son Rabbi Elazar of Lancut continued the court; from his line came the Munkacs dynasty.
