the fourth rebbe of Vizhnitz; he gathered the court anew in Bnei Brak after the Shoah
The court passed to him in 1936, in Grosswardein, after the death of his father, Rabbi Yisrael.
The war. Hungarian Jewry was destroyed in a few months of 1944. He survived and in that same year reached the Land of Israel.
Bnei Brak. There he founded the Vizhnitz quarter—Shikun Vizhnitz: streets, a yeshiva, a synagogue, houses for families. This was not a restoration of the former thing but building from nothing, and it came off: today Vizhnitz is one of the largest chasidic houses in the country.
He was among those who ran the affairs of Agudath Israel in the state’s first years, and sat on the Council of Torah Sages.
He died on 9 Nisan 1972. His book is Imrei Chaim.
