the third rebbe of Vizhnitz; under him the court became the largest in Bukovina
He took the court in 1893, at thirty-three, after his father, Rabbi Baruch.
What he is remembered for. By the name of his book: Ahavas Yisroel. He is spoken of as a man who could not refuse and could not speak ill of another Jew; the chasidim held this to be not softness of temper but work he did upon himself.
The war. In the autumn of 1914 the front reached Bukovina, and he left with the court for Grosswardein (Oradea) in Hungary. The court did not return: from then on the Vizhnitz house stood on Hungarian ground, and after the Shoah it gathered anew in Bnei Brak and in Monsey.
He died on 2 Sivan 1936.
