Rabbi Chaim Menachem David Horowitz, the last rebbe of Dzikov רבי חיים מנחם דוד הורוויץ מדזיקוב

the fifth and last rebbe of Dzikov; he perished in the Shoah

The last to hold the Dzikow seat: he was appointed rabbi in 1924, before he was twenty; his father was Rabbi Alter Yechezkel Eliyahu.

In the war he passed through the Plaszow camp. He died on 23 Tishrei 1944, on Simchat Torah, worn out by forced labour. Where exactly this happened the sources tell differently: some name Mauthausen, others Theresienstadt; we make no choice between them.

The Dzikov house survived through his brother Rabbi Yehuda, who after the war gathered it in Erets Yisrael, and later in London.
