the second rebbe of Kosov; father of the founder of Vizhnitz
He took Kosov in 1826 after his father, Rabbi Menachem Mendel.
He kept the former Kosov manner—poor and plain—and the chasidim of the Carpathian townlets came to him in thousands: it was a court people came to with need rather than for learning.
As two houses. One of his sons remained in Kosov, the other, Rabbi Menachem Mendel, settled in Vizhnitz. From this came the two names of one house, and to this day the Kosov and Vizhnitz rebbes are kin in a direct line.
He died on 25 Nisan 1854. His teachings are gathered in Toras Chaim.
