son of the author of Or Zarua, student of the Maharam of Rothenburg
Two hundred and fifty-one of his responsa survive. He also abridged his father's vast work—the Kitzur Or Zarua, which came down in several manuscripts.
About 1288 he took part in the rabbinical synod at Mainz, where the taxes laid on the Jews by Rudolf of Habsburg were discussed. The sources give no exact years: the Jewish Encyclopedia gives none at all, Sefaria puts him at about 1260–1300, the Encyclopaedia Judaica at the end of the thirteenth century.
