Rabbi Meir Rosenbaum of Kretchnif רבי מאיר ראזענבוים מקרעטשניף

founder of the Kretchnif court; son of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna

Son of Rabbi Mordechai Leifer of Nadvorna. He was born on 18 Tevet 1852; he was the third rebbe of Nadvorna, and then moved the court to Kretchnif, by which he is named.

He changed the family name from Leifer to Rosenbaum in the years of the Austrian wars, to avoid conscription; under that name the house goes to this day. He was married to Shifra, daughter of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tirer.

He published no books of his own: his teaching entered the Raza d'Shabbos, his son's book. He died on 30 Sivan 1908 and is buried in Kretchnif.
