Rabbi Mordechai of Lechovitch רבי מרדכי מלעכאוויטש
founder of the Lechovitch court; disciple of Rabbi Shlomo of Karlin
He was born about 1742 in Nesvizh, the son of Rabbi Noach. He studied under Rabbi Shlomo of Karlin, and after his teacher's death in 1792 led part of the Karlin chasidim and settled in Lechovitch.
In 1798 he was taken into custody on a denunciation by opponents of chasidism—such were the times that a denunciation reached the authorities quickly. He also gathered money for the chasidim of Erets Yisrael.
He died on 13 Shevat 1810 and is buried in Stolin. His son Rabbi Noach took the court.
