Rabbi Mordechai Shraga Friedman of Husyatin רבי מרדכי שרגא פרידמן מהוסיאטין

the youngest son of the Ruzhiner; founder of the Husyatin court

The youngest son of the Ruzhiner; he was sixteen when the father died. He settled in Husyatin, a Galician townlet on the Zbruch: across the river lay Russia, from which the father had fled.

The court. The Ruzhiner had six sons; the courts that lasted are Sadigura, Shtefanesht, Chortkov and Husyatin, and out of Sadigura later grew Boyan. The Husyatin court kept the father’s manner: silence, dignity, few words. He led it for about thirty years.

He died in 1894; the court was taken by his son, Rabbi Yisrael.
