Sephardi musar laid out alphabetically for the whole of life
Born at Sarajevo in 1785, from twenty-seven rabbi of Silistra on the Danube, where he died in 1828, aged forty-three. Besides the Pele Yoetz he wrote Chesed la-Alafim and Elef ha-Magen.
His grave at Silistra is a place of pilgrimage to this day: people travel to it from Israel and from across the ocean. The promise that tradition puts in his mouth—to pray for whoever comes to his grave—we give as tradition.
