the sixth rebbe of Ger; before that he headed the Sfas Emes yeshiva for a quarter of a century
The youngest son of the Imrei Emes, born in Ger in 1926 and brought as a boy to the Land of Israel.
The yeshiva. From the 1960s until his accession he headed the Jerusalem yeshiva Sfas Emes—teaching, analysing, arguing with the students. A chasidic rebbe standing daily at the lectern is not a common thing, and when he took the court in 1992 the yeshiva habit stayed with him.
Four years. He led Ger a short time—he died on 16 Adar 1996, at seventy. He managed much all the same: he continued the resettlement his brother began, and left a body of teaching published afterwards under the name Pnei Menachem—on the Torah, on the festivals and on the tractates.
