Ra'ah—Rabbi Aharon haLevi רבי אהרן הלוי

Rabbi Aharon haLevi (c. 1235–1300) studied under the Ramban together with the Rashba and was the second most influential head of Barcelona, teaching in Provence at the end of his life. His novellae on Ketubot and Bava Batra stand among the classics.

Bedek haBayit—"The Repair of the House"—goes through the Rashba's Torat haBayit chapter by chapter and points out where the conclusion does not follow from the source. The Rashba answered with Mishmeret haBayit—"The Watch of the House". The two books are printed side by side.

Many also ascribe to him the Sefer haChinuch—the count of the 613 commandments in the order of the weekly portions, written, as its preface says, "for my son and for youths of his age". The authorship is disputed: the book is signed "a man of the house of Levi in Barcelona", which fits him and fits another.

The sources give no exact years of life; the window of activity is set by generation, following Aharon Hyman and the lists of Seder haDorot.
