head of Sura from 4575
Rav Avimai took Sura in 4575 (815). His son, Rav Kohen Tzedek bar Avimai, would take the same seat thirty years later.
He left nothing of his own—no responsum, no account of himself. He is remembered through his son and through a line in the list of Sura's heads.
