Mar Rav Tzadok bar Ashi took Sura in 4583 (823). The patronymic "bar Ashi" belongs also to Rav Kimoi, head of the same academy six years later: by the lists they are brothers.
Neither he nor his brother left a responsum or an account. In the list they stand side by side—two names and two years.
