head of the Lithuanian world, at odds with his own title
Born at Kamenetz near Brest; he led the yeshivot of Bnei Brak from the fifties. His commentaries on the Talmud he printed anonymously, under the name Ayelet ha-Shachar.
He died in 5778 at a hundred and three. The year of birth was confused—1913 or 1914; the passport gives 1914, and we set it.
