Rav Shmuel Wosner—Shevet ha-Levi רבי שמואל הלוי ואזנר

the last student of Lublin, become the posek of Bnei Brak

He was born in Vienna in 5673 (1913) and studied at the Chachmei Lublin yeshiva under Rav Meir Shapiro—and outlived that world. He was rabbi of the Zichron Meir quarter and head of the Chachmei Lublin yeshiva in Bnei Brak—carrying Lublin to new ground by its very name.

Shevet ha-Levi—ten volumes of responsa on questions of law—is among the chief bodies of ruling of our time.

He lived a hundred and one years. At ninety-eight he spoke before sixty thousand in a New York stadium; about a hundred thousand came to his funeral in 2015.
