the third rebbe of Modzitz; led the court in Tel Aviv
He came to Eretz Yisrael before his father, Rabbi Shaul Yedidya Elazar, in 1935, and took the court after his death, in 1948.
Tel Aviv. Under him the Modzitz court stood in Tel Aviv—a rare chasidic court in that city. The rebbe composed melodies, and his Shabbat gatherings drew people from all over the city, far from chasidim alone.
His talks were published as the Imrei Eish. He died in 1984; the court was taken by his son, Rabbi Yisrael Dan.
