A disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin; after his death he settled in Kuzmir (Kazimierz) on the Vistula.
The melody. He was the first in Polish Chasidut to make melody a matter of the court: he required a new nigun for every Sabbath and composed them himself. His grandson, Rabbi Yisrael of Modzitz, carried this to seven hundred melodies—but it began in Kuzmir.
He died on 17 Shevat 1856. His son settled in Zvolin, his grandson in Modzitz.
