the eldest son of the Divrei Chaim; the Shinova court and the link between Sanz and Hungary
The eldest son of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, from his first marriage. After the father's death in 1876 the Sanz inheritance was divided: the brothers settled in different towns, and he in Shinova (Sieniawa) in Galicia.
What he joined. He was married to the daughter of a Hungarian rabbi and stood all his life between Galicia and Hungary—two worlds that were by then drawing apart: the Galician chasidic one and the Hungarian, where after the Chatam Sofer the word of the rabbinical court was foremost. He spoke with both.
Longest of all. He outlived his brothers and saw his grandsons at the head of courts; towards the end people came to him as to the last man who remembered his father alive.
He died on 8 Av 1898. His book is Divrei Yechezkel.
