the third rebbe of Karlin; under him the court settled in Stolin and became Karlin-Stolin
The grandson of Rabbi Aharon the Great; between them Rabbi Asher of Stolin, his father.
Stolin. Karlin near Pinsk was the court’s first seat, but under him the court settled in Stolin, and since then the house is called Karlin-Stolin: the first name stayed with the teaching, the second with the place.
Prayer aloud. The Karlin manner is prayer in a loud voice, louder than others; to a stranger it seems frenzy, and the Karliners say that praying quietly is easier than aloud, and therefore easier to deceive oneself in. Under him this became the mark of the court.
The book. The Beis Aharon was gathered after his death: teachings on the portions of the Torah and on the festivals, letters, an order of the day. It is read by those who have nothing to do with the Karlin chasidim as well.
He died on 17 Sivan 1872.
